Vesicular rash

  • Chickenpox

  • Herpes simplex virus

  • Enterovirus

  • Smallpox

Blisters on the skin and mucous membrane.

 

Investigation

Vesicular fluids for Electron Microscopic examination , Immunofluorescent (IF) or virus isolation.

 

 


 

Maculopapular rash

  • Measles

  • Rubella

  • Epstein Barr virus

  • Cytomegalovirus

Circular flat lesions 1mm or less in diameter- macular

Circular raised/ elevated lesions 1 mm or less in diameter- papular

 

 

Investigation

Clotted blood for

  • Measles IgM,

  • Rubella IgM,

  • EBV VCA IgM or

  • CMV IgM
